About Me

Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PSY33326)

Benjamin Steinman, Psy.D

I am licensed in California by the Board of Psychology as a Clinical Psychologist and specialize in adult psychotherapy, psychological assessment, and clinical consultation. I also work as adjunct faculty for the Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA.

I completed my doctoral internship at Napa State Hospital where I provided assessment and rehabilitation for people who were civilly committed by the State of California or found incompetent to stand trial. While working at Napa State Hospital, I was trained in trauma informed care, psychological assessment, dialectical behavioral therapy, and psychoanalysis. I finished my postdoctoral residency for Kaiser Permanente in Pleasanton where I provided solution focused and evidence based practices.

Before graduate school, I worked as a Life Skills Trainer at a rehabilitation center for individuals with traumatic brain injury, as a Behavioral Interventionist for children on the Autism Spectrum, and as a Peer Counselor for UC Davis’s Counseling and Psychological Services Center. In graduate school I had amazing opportunities to work as a training assistant for both the Wright Institute Assessment Clinic, and the Wright Institute Psychodynamic Clinic in Berkeley. I have experience providing psychotherapy for both middle and high schools, for community mental health centers, medical wellness centers, and hospitals. Finding the right therapist is incredibly important, call today for a free 15-20 minute video or phone consultation and see if services are right for you.

Benjamin Steinman Psychological Services

Consistent, accessible, and personalized mental healthcare either in-person or from the comfort of your home.

Therapy doesn’t have to be a mysterious, confusing, or overwhelming experience. I believe it should be a collaborative and transparent process that highlights the many avenues for change, healing, and growth. We all have our own unique style for learning, processing, and overcoming; it is my goal to find out how to best work with you. As a therapist, I am driven by curiosity, empathy, compassion, and the genuine desire to understand the reality behind your day to day life and how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence your mood, goals, values, and relationships.

My approach to therapy incorporates aspects of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and Psychoanalytic Therapy, along with mindfulness techniques and trauma informed care.
